Dr. Jacobs studied fine arts painting and drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art (Baltimore, MD), one of the top three art schools in the country. He continues to produce artwork for various patrons, and has done significant work in the commercial arts, ranging from concept art and character design to 3D digital modeling. Dr. Jacobs has taught numerous interdisciplinary classes on aesthetics, art history, and film.
